Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the most underused clinical trial markets in the western Balkans.
With a population of 3.5 million, 254 registered trials and EU candidate status since 2022, the country offers sponsors an early opportunity to build clinical research relationships before regulatory harmonization deepens.
The country is especially relevant for cardiovascular disease, oncology, neurology, psychiatry, endocrinology, diabetes, respiratory disease and internal medicine studies.
For sponsors, Bosnia and Herzegovina is not yet a simple standalone trial market. Its value is strongest as part of a wider Balkan strategy, especially alongside Serbia, Croatia or North Macedonia.
