Site Overview
Cancer Institute (WIA), also known as Adyar Cancer Institute, is a public charitable, voluntary not-for-profit comprehensive cancer centre in Adyar, Chennai, established in 1954. It is recognized as the State Cancer Institute and provides multidisciplinary cancer care ranging from prevention and screening to diagnosis, medical, surgical and radiation oncology, palliative care and rehabilitation. The institute has a 545-bed inpatient facility, a dedicated research division and a College of Oncological Sciences, and conducts clinical, translational and molecular oncology research, including Phase II–IV clinical trials. It also operates cancer prevention and screening programs and provides free or heavily subsidised treatment to patients based on their financial circumstances.
